According to the German Bertelsmann Dictionary is a ring "a closed circular Object" (gold~, key~); the Ring is closed, the matter finds its way back to its starting point."
A ring binder , ie a piece of pressed sheet with half-rings, which are clamped under tension to a mostly round something, should actually not be called "ring binder". There are no rings ..
X17 is different - we use proper rings . For us, the matter closes and finds back to its starting point."
A ring binder without real rings
X17 uses real rings! Which makes it by definition - a ring binder. So, all organizers, conducted under the name "ring binder" are strictly speaking no ring binder, because the only use a interrupted ring, which is therefore not a real ring.
These rings are formed of a specific rubber mixture and in the form of an O - ring. The average of the O-ring is round, like an "O", therefore Name.
X17 - ring binder rings running along the back through the inside of the insert and so connect the insert to the shell.
Also, a ring is used to close the organizer. There is a longitudinal rubber ring stretched across the ring binder.
The material of the rings - is used for many decades in the automotive industry as a sealing ring and is tested for a special rubber-like material: What exactly is behind this mix, is of course our trade secret. After all, there are far more than 10,000 different mixtures in the material category " rubber-like substance ". We have a found special blend for our needs, which must meet the highest standards :
The X17-Organizer is a Book-by-book-System, ie are small booklets and not single sheets held together in a book shell. The individual books are held in the shell with rubber rings along the back - ingenious! And so simple that one wonders why it has not been invented much sooner. Compared to a ring binder, the advantage is obvious: X17 needs less space! It is flat and compact. Ideal for jackets, shirts and even trouser pockets. The left side can be also lettered comfortable, no metal claws disturb writing ..
We are sure that X17 will last almost a lifetime, because we only use good materials, That's why we give 17 (!) Years guarantee on our shells made out of leather and bonded leather, not included our versions of cardboard or Balacron (like moleskine ).
Sounds unbelievable? Yes, when the idea was born, we also had only get used to it. We checked the products, trying to destroy them. In leather, it is almost impossible. A leather thickness of 1.8 mm could not get ripped at the edge. With the regenerated leather, it's rather possible, but still , you need a lot of strength to tear this .
The first obvious advantage is the compact type . Especially in comparison to the ring binder. It X17 needs les space! It is flat and compact and thus ideal for trouser or jacket pocket.
No rings bother you.
The third advantage reveals itself comparing the wrting-space of the timer with writing space of the ring binder same external format. Taking a conventional ring binder with a normal "20" ring size, shows a space advantage of 47 % !
which also means that the small A7-Size timer from X17, fitting in a Shirt pocket, has the same writing space a regulaer A6-Size ring-binder-timer. Almost unbelievable, how much space is wasted by a ring machanism..
X17 can be used like a book with the advantage of individual selectable and combinable Calendar/Register/Notes ( plain, plaid, lined or marks )-Inlays.
"Modular" also means additional options on X17 are supplemented : pen loop, double bag or page marker make your X17 organizer your own individual companion.
Choose your own page marker from 47 colours, choose one of 19 colors for Shells and one of 16 colors for Pens!
compared to a regular Calendar-Book X17 pursues also an economic concept: The Book-Shells last for years, you can always rebuy new individual inlay-books!
X17 Handheld is a Schedule Book, a Diary, a notebook, a success-book, or just a pocket calendar. Feel free to compare X17 with the competition products!
As with many innovations you will have to learn to deal with it. So with X17. For changing the booklet without impairing paper.
The trick is, to draw the elastix generously over the booklet an only then remove the booklet. If you try to pull out the booklet unter the elastix, you will probably wrinkle the paper.
Here is a film how to do it:
X17 uses - unlike the usual notebooks - a cross-elastic closure. To close the X17 organizer cleverly, there is a trick:
You put your thumb and index finger through the ring and take it to the lower edge of the notebook - finished.
How that works, ist shown in this short video-clip:
